We fusion splice, terminate, and test with an OTDR so you get documented loss numbers, not a thumbs-up. We also handle the electronics on each end, so the fiber actually lights up and passes traffic the day we leave. If you have dark fiber from a previous tenant, we can test and reuse it instead of paying for a new pull.
Copper tops out at 100 meters; fiber goes kilometers and is immune to the electrical noise you get near motors, lighting ballasts and parking-lot transformers. Single-mode (OS2) is our default for anything between buildings; OM4 multimode for short data-center and closet-to-closet links.

How far can fiber run between buildings on my San Diego property?
Single-mode fiber runs miles without issue, so distance across a dealership lot, a Rancho Bernardo campus or an Otay Mesa yard is never the limit. The real questions are pathway and permitting: whether there is conduit, whether we trench, and whether the City of San Diego needs a right-of-way permit for anything crossing a sidewalk.
Do Sorrento Valley labs need fiber or is Cat6A enough?
Within a floor, Cat6A usually covers the benches. Between floors and to the MDF, fiber is the right backbone, especially for imaging, sequencing and any instrument pushing large files to storage. We often do both in the same job.
Can you test and reuse fiber left by a previous tenant in my building?
Yes. We OTDR-test existing strands, clean and re-terminate the ends, and document the results. In UTC and downtown buildings, reusing riser fiber often saves the cost and the landlord approval process of a new pull.
When does a building need fiber instead of copper?
When a run is longer than 100 meters, when it crosses between buildings or floors with separate electrical grounds, or when you need more than 10 Gbps. Camera systems on large lots and campuses usually need fiber to the far poles.
Can you repair a cut fiber line?
Yes. We locate the break with an OTDR, splice or re-terminate, and re-test. Most single breaks are fixed the same day once we are on site.
Do you test fiber after installation?
Every strand is tested with an optical power meter and, on longer runs, an OTDR. You get the loss report with the invoice.
